Alaskan King Crab is cooked and ready to eat after thawing.

The best way to thaw the crab is in a refrigerator overnight in a cloth covered bowl. For quick thaw, leave it out of the fridge for approximately 3 hours.

Once thawed, it can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days, although it is "juiciest" and best eaten in the first 2 days.

The crab's shell is reasonably soft, particularly the white coloured parts. Use kitchen scissors, or shearers, cutting across each joint. Follow by cutting lengthways along the white part of the shell. The meat will slide out as a whole piece.

The claws have a harder shell than the legs. Put them on a sturdy chopping board, cover with the tea towel and crack the shell with a meat tenderiser or similar.
